Dan Young grew up in a small town near Easton with his four brothers and sisters in a close-knit, hardworking Pennsylvania family. His parents - like so many before and after them - were focused on helping their children succeed more in life than they had.
Throughout his schooling, Dan became a star in multiple sports while - during high school - also working at his dad’s car lot cleaning and reconditioning cars. He also worked for his hometown for two years as a trashman and on the road crew laying roads.
Upon graduating high school, Dan wanted to join the Marine Corps like his father and brother before him, but was instead convinced to be the first Young to attend college. While still regretful that he did not serve in the military, Dan worked hard in college to make his family proud and graduated with a degree in Forestry and a high GPA.
Dan chose a path in Timber Land Management and became a logger. This was an exciting yet dangerous career, but after marrying, decided to choose work that was more predictable and safer, but no less difficult. He worked two 40 hour jobs – 80 hours/week! Wicks Lumber during the day in the warehouse and at Frey’s Motor Express during the night, working the loading dock. During this two years, Dan was able to pay off his college expenses!
In 1980, Dan his high school sweetheart, Robin, and, after raising two beautiful daughters together, they chose to divorce more than a decade together; today, they remain close friends and proud parents of their children, Chelsea and Lindsay.
Around this time, Dan began to experience an unexplained illness and - for two years - his condition continued to decline until he found hope and then recovery - through commitment to a specialized whole foods diet. Dan's experiences led him to become certified in Personal Training and Sports Nutrition and, using his personal journey and professional training, he decided to leave his career of 25 years and, in 2000, Simple Again Corp. was founded.
Dan's company grew to employ approximately 45 people supplying healthy foods and supplements to thousands of juice bars in health clubs, country clubs, hospitals and universities. All that changed in 2020 with the COVID-19 pandemic when Dan's company lost 95% of its revenue in a single day with the closure of almost all of its client base. Rather than quit, Dan decided to buckle down and rebuild the company. He never missed a single day of work during the shutdown as he rebuilt the company and eventually saved all the jobs for his people.
Remarried in the early 2000's, Dan and his wife Kathleen are the proud parents of three beautiful, very active children: Darby Marie, Madison Mae and Nolen Daniel. Dan's daughters from his first marriage - Chelsea and Lindsay - are still very much involved in all their lives.
Dan continues his quest for challenges and today has earned World Class Gold Status from the Ironman Triathalon after years of participating in many Olympics, Half Ironman and full Ironman events. He also remains active in our Collegeville community, having founded a flag football league to help keep local children physically engaged during the COVID-19 pandemic shutdowns.
